Complexity Graphics
Last week, as I was digging through Behance, I came across Tatiana Plakhova's illustrations. To be honest, I'm not too fond of fractal imagery, and the randomly generated forms that define it. But this time, Tatiana's works caught my attention and summoned my eyes in its own habitat. There is nothing organic to be found in Tatiana's works, no microcosmos. Like watching a map of stars, every single piece in the illustrations is far more gigantic and far away from the viewer. I think she found the meaning of sublime.

World of Jon Klassen
Jon Klassen is a Canadian freelance illustrator. His color palette, although desaturated, is soft and delicate. The subtle textures he uses for multi-layering the areas create a raw pastoral atmosphere. He also elaborates in details of every single element of his compositions, so the viewer takes his place in front of a living, silent world.

Gig Posters
Designer: John Vogl
The common point of these illustrative posters are their clients: music bands. A new genre of graphic design is born, posters for new-age rock band concerts, Gig Posters. Their main element is usually a dominant illustration -usually irrevelant with the context of the bands-. It can be said that these posters are the witnesses of the forthcoming generation and the understanding of post-music. Many of the gig posters can be found in the compilation book -which can be found in my office-.

Merrie "Dirty" Melodies
Here's Mcbess. He's a rising star in the mainstream illustration world. He imitates the visual language of old "cheesy" Merrie Melodies cartoons, and creates a new dimension: a dark and nasty one. He also have a rock band and in his illustrations, he generally focuses on the members of the band. He changes the general vanishing points and with his intense contrast of black and white, the viewer meets a chaotic experience. And indeed, his world is fresh.

- Bura bura
- (Tan-tan-tanuki's testicles, there isn't even any wind but still go swing-swing-swing.)
These illustrations are made by Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798- 1861). He was one of the pioneers of Japanese Ukiyo-e style illustration. In this set, the humorous way of understanding the myth of Tanuki. Tanuki is a japanese folkloral character; a racoon dog with large testicles. The illustrations shows the possible alternative purposes of Tanuki's testicles. The humorous feature of this character is developped in Kamakura Era (1185-1333). In illustrations of Utagawa Kuniyoshi, the exagerated proportions and mimics are clearly seen in humorous perception.
